Account Deletion โ€” Padi Chat

NexGen UX & Engineering LLC operates the Padi Chat mobile application. This page explains how to request deletion of your Padi Chat account and what happens to your data.

How to delete your account from inside the app (recommended)

This is the fastest way and works for any Padi Chat user with the app installed.

  1. Open Padi Chat on your phone.
  2. Tap your profile avatar (bottom-right tab) โ†’ Profile.
  3. Tap Account โ†’ scroll to the Account deletion section.
  4. Tap Request account deletion.
  5. Confirm the request.

Your account immediately enters a 30-day grace period:

  • You can no longer send messages, place orders, hire rides, or transact with your wallet.
  • Your wallet is frozen.
  • Friends will see your profile as "Account pending deletion".
  • You can cancel the request at any time during the 30 days by signing back in and tapping Cancel deletion request on the same screen.

After 30 days have passed, the account is permanently anonymized (see "What happens to your data" below).

How to delete your account if you can't access the app

If you've lost access to your phone, the app is uninstalled, or you can't sign in for any reason, email us:

Include in your email:

  • The phone number you used to sign up (e.g. +232 76 โ€ฆ)
  • Your name as it appears in the app (if you remember)
  • The subject line: "Account deletion request"

We will:

  1. Verify your identity within 3 business days (we may ask for additional information to confirm you own the account).
  2. Submit the deletion request on your behalf.
  3. Send you a confirmation email when the 30-day grace period starts.
  4. Send a final confirmation email when anonymization completes.

What happens to your data

When the 30-day grace period elapses, we anonymize your account row rather than hard-deleting it. This means the row stays in our database for legal and audit purposes, but every personally-identifying field is overwritten with a placeholder.

Data that is anonymized (overwritten and unrecoverable)

  • Phone number
  • Name and username
  • Profile photo
  • Email address (if provided)
  • Date of birth
  • Government-issued ID images and selfies (KYC documents)
  • Saved addresses
  • Push notification tokens
  • Device identifiers
  • Stripe customer ID and any saved payment methods (deleted from Stripe at the same time)
  • Stripe Connect account (deleted from Stripe at the same time, ending payouts)

Data that is deleted entirely

  • Chat messages you sent (your side of the conversation)
  • Discover posts, comments, and reactions you authored
  • Marketplace listings you created
  • Restaurant reviews you wrote
  • Cloud Storage files you uploaded
  • Saved cards and payment methods (handled by Stripe deletion above)

Data that is kept (cannot be deleted, with reason)

  • Transaction history โ€” we are required by Sierra Leone Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) regulations to retain financial transaction records for 5 years after the transaction date. This includes ride fares, food orders, wallet transfers, and cash-outs. Personally-identifying fields on these records are anonymized.
  • Tax records and invoices โ€” retained for 7 years as required by Sierra Leone tax law.
  • Fraud and abuse signals โ€” if your account was suspended for fraud, scam, harassment, or other policy violations, the record of the violation (anonymized) is kept indefinitely to prevent re-registration.
  • Aggregate analytics โ€” non-identifying usage statistics (e.g. "X rides completed in May 2026") are kept indefinitely. These contain no personal information.
  • Backups โ€” encrypted database backups may contain your data for up to 30 additional days after anonymization, after which they roll off automatically.

Your rights

  • You may request a copy of your data at any time before deletion. Open the app โ†’ Profile โ†’ Account โ†’ Export my data. We email you a downloadable JSON file within 24 hours.
  • You may cancel a deletion request at any time during the 30-day grace period.
  • After the grace period ends, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
  • If you create a new Padi Chat account with the same phone number after deletion, it will be a brand-new account with no history.
